1 year adventure-versary: My Study Abroad Bucket List

Happy Australia Day!

One year ago today, I was soaking up the intense sunshine beneath the “ozone hole” as close to the South Pole as I have ever been while celebrating Australia Day in true Aussie fashion, with goon in one hand and a snag in the other. (Yes, I have yet to give up my mate slang.)

Over one year ago on December 28, 2014, I flew 7,500 miles away from the farm with a one way ticket. I knew I was destined for an island with kangaroos and koalas galore, rugged outback landscape and people with strong Aussie accents. Besides these general facts, I knew little about my destination and even less about the adventure of a lifetime I was about to experience. However, from the little knowledge I did have, I drafted a “Study Aboard Bucket List” on the brief 17 hour plane flight.

69 days and nearly 23,000 miles of travel later, I discovered adventures truly are the best way to learn as I completed each and every item on the list below. This could not have been possible without the organization of Cal Poly’s Study Abroad Program, our brave professors who chaperoned the crazy group of 28 adventurous Mustangs and most importantly, my parents who allowed (and funded) my spontaneous travels. Thank you for literally giving me the world. I will forever be down unda dreaming.
